The Water Institute is pleased to announce that Waterloo is poised to continue its leadership in water research and education with the announcement of the Global Water Futures Observatories (GWFO) project supported by generous funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation Major Science Initiatives Fund and GWFO partner institutions. This new $40.67M project will continue the legacy of the Global Water Futures program from 2023 to 2029.

On World Water Day, March 22, the Water Institute brought more than 250 people together to celebrate water and raise awareness about the need to unite around protecting and conserving our most precious resource. This included 60 youth from Six Nations Polytechnic and Pauline Johnson Collegiate & Vocational School.

On March 22, Water Institute researchers from the Global Water Futures program will join a panel discussion to explore the University of Waterloo’s legacy in developing sustainable water management solutions under the $78 million pan-Canadian Global Water Futures program.
